Victim In Fatal Newark Shooting Monday Identified The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has identified the man shot and killed in Newark as a 49-year-old city resident, the agency said Wednesday.  Hassan Webb was one of five people shot Monday night in the 100 block of South 8th Street. Webb died at the scene.  On Tuesday, another multiple shooting claimed the life if yet another victim. 3 Shot, One Killed, In Second Straight Night Of Deadly Violence In Newark One person is dead and two others injured in a shooting in Newark Tuesday night, police said.  The victims, identified only as males, were shot on Clinton Place. One of the wounded was reportedly in critical condition, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.  Ambrose referred additional inquiries to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.  The shooting comes on the heels of a pair of shootings Monday night that left one person dead and wounded four others . Those shootings occurred on South 8th Street and were also under investigation by the prosecutor's office.

Gunfire broke out just after 5 p.m. on South 8th Street, off 12th Avenue, a neighborhood of mostly two-family homes. The three hospitalized didn’t have life-threatening wounds, police said. There was no immediate word on a possible motive or whether authorities had anyone in custody. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office was investigating, assisted by Newark police.
