Bergen County Army Cadet, 21, Dies During Fort Knox Training: 'Dedicated, Promising Leader'
A 21-year-old Army cadet from New Jersey died during a land navigation exercise at Fort Knox, officials from the US Army confirmed. Cadet Neil Edara, of Ridgewood (Bergen County), became unresponsive on Thursday, July 24, while attending Cadet Summer Training with the 9th Regiment, Advanced Camp. He was airlifted to the University of Louisville, where he was later pronounced dead. At 18 years old, Hagr Elweshahy was appointed to the Linden Zoning Board this week. The high school senior's new role makes her the youngest Zoning Board member in city history. Support Surges For ROTC Grad Seriously Burned In Perth Amboy Gas Explosion
Support is surging for a 28-year-old Perth Amboy man who was seriously burned in a gas explosion in his garage last month. More than $58,100 had been raised on a GoFundMe as of Aug. 10 for David Wiessler, an ROTC grad and former U.S. Army EOD officer. Wiessler was airlifted with burns on his arms and legs to the hospital from his Barry Avenue home around 7:15 a.m. on July 27, CBS2 reports.
