: Glen Rock Car Containing $230,000 In Valuables Stolen, Repeat Offender Charged
It didn’t take long for Glen Rock police detective to identify a thief who swiped a car from a resident’s driveway that contained nearly $230,000 worth of valuables, authorities said. Despite a recent series of arrests for property crimes, New Jersey's 2017 bail reform law has kept Colin McCann, 39, of Glen Rock out of jail and on the street. These include charges that he stole two Glen Rock DPW vehicles last year. Police have nearly lost count of the number of times serial car burglar Isaiah Jones has been released only to strike again in community after community in Bergen and Hudson counties. It happened again Friday night when Edgewater police said they caught Jones entering unlocked vehicles in the parking lot of a River Road shopping center barely 500 feet from their headquarters. A new report from Safewise.com named several Bergen County towns were named among the 100 "safest cities" in America. The report analyzed data from the FBI crime report, which found that the crime rate among northeastern states was approximately 30 percent less than the national average. On average, the areas on the list reported eight property crimes for every 1,000 people -- 67 percent less than the national property crime rate.
