Penny Pinched: US To Stop Producing One-Cent Coin, Reports Say The federal government is pulling the penny from circulation, ending a historic run for the coin dating back to the country's early days, according to reports. The US Treasury made its final order of penny blanks and will stop distributing the one-cent coins by early 2026, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, May 22. A Treasury spokesperson confirmed the end of the penny to the Associated Press. Woman, 65, Killed In Western Mass House Fire ID'd State fire officials have identified the woman who was killed in a Franklin County fire as a 65-year-old Orange woman, authorities said.  Debra Marini died several hours after she was seriously burned last week in a blaze at 99 West River Street in Orange, the State Fire Marshal's Office said on Tuesday. Schneck died at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 13. He was 39. Born in Allentown, Brock attended Northampton High School, where he played varsity baseball for three years before graduating in 2001, his obituary says. Brock went on to own his own waterproofing company. He had been working in the business since he was just 14 and had taken incredible pride in his work, his website says. Horse Pulled From Pool At Suffolk County Home Police rescued a horse from a pool at a Long Island home. The incident took place in Suffolk County around 7:50 a.m., Saturday, March 19, when officers responded to a 911 call of a horse stuck in a pool cover at a home in Bohemia. Police and members of the Bohemia Fire Department responded and pulled the horse, a 3-year-old female named Penny, from the deep end of the pool through the shallow end, said the Suffolk County Police.
