Paterson detectives who've been fighting escalating gun violence in the Silk City seized four firearms over a span of a little over 24 hours, authorities said Friday. The biggest bust involved three men – one of them an ex-con – caught with a pair of guns shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, Police Director Jerry Speziale said. Detectives Luis Roca and Joseph Aboyoun had just pulled over a Mercedes Benz that ran a stop sign on East 19th Street when they spotted a weapon in the car, Speziale said. Authorities Charge Englewood Ex-Con With Attempted Murder In Paterson Shooting
An Englewood ex-con was charged with attempted murder and other counts in connection with the shooting of a Paterson man. Vanden L. Carter, 29, remained held in the Passaic County Jail after authorities said he shot the 44-year-old victim on North Straight Street around 1:20 a.m. Sept. 15. Detectives identified Carter as the shooter, then took him into custody around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday 2018 in the area of Governor Street, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Paterson Gunfire Continues: Two Shootings, Three Victims
Authorities Saturday morning confirmed two overnight shootings in Paterson, one of which involved two victims who got themselves to the hospital. The first shooting, on North Straight Street at 1:20 a.m., involved a 44-year-old man whose injuries weren’t considered life-threatening. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. Paterson PD: Passenger Nabbed After Emerging From SUV With Handgun, Heroin
Paterson detectives on a quality-of-life detail grabbed a city man who authorities said emerged from an SUV carrying a large handgun. Detective Luis Fernandez ordered 39-year-old Jabar Wilson to drop the revolver before colleagues quick took him into custody around 10 p.m. Friday on North Straight Street, Police Director Jerry Speziale said.
