Horses Test Positive For Herpes, Property Quarantined In Sussex County
Horses on a Sussex County property have been quarantined after two of them tested positive for equine herpes, state officials said. One horse, a 7-year-old Standardbred mare, developed illness on Oct. 1, and improved clinically after prompt medical treatment, the NJ Department of Agriculture said. Six days later a second horse, a 3-year-old Standardbred mare developed clinical signs of fever and recumbency and was humanely euthanized due to severe clinical deterioration, the NJDA said. Video Captures Spotted Lanternflies Swarming Jersey City Building
Spotted lanternflies seem to be more prevalent than ever this year in New Jersey. One Jersey City resident captured the invasive species swarming a Jersey City building, and he fears they could harm the newly-planted trees in a nearby park.
