Rideshare Driver Charged With Setting Early-Morning Arson Fire At Bergen County Pizzeria
GOTCHA! A rideshare driver from Carlstadt was charged with setting a fire in the basement of a Wood-Ridge pizzeria that investigators said had multiple points of origin. Majd Abdallah, a 27-year-old Jordanian national, was arrested following an investigation into the Feb. 21 blaze, which broke out in a common basement area below Emilia Romagna Pizza & Ristorante on Valley Boulevard shortly before 8 a.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. TRIBUTE: Among the remembrances that grew Tuesday of a young man gone too soon was one that spoke to the heart of gold that those who knew Moonachie Firefighter Chris Kucan said he had. "I was fishing this summer and knocked my phone out of my hand into Greenwood Lake," wrote Chris Romano of Little Ferry. The front end of a tandem tractor-trailer toppled a traffic signal after a sedan slammed into it before dawn Thursday on a major roadway near the Meadowlands, authorities said. Somehow, neither the 30-year-old Maryland trucker or 27-year-old motorist from Garfield whose Hyundai Sonata knocked over the rig was injured seriously, Police Chief Richard Behrens said. Needy families and individuals received 380 coats, as well as children’s clothing, thanks to the Company K chapter of the Strength & Honor Motorcycle Club and the Moonachie Fire Department. “The cold couldn’t stop us from riding for a cause such as this,” Chapter President Christopher “Shallow” Inserra said. “There are many families who don’t have coats and are much colder than us”.
