Davon Womack, 23, is accused of tipping off the shooters that Davonte Scudder, 22, and Brian Astacio, 21, were in the parking lot of the East Rutherford complex the night of Oct. 25. Meadowlands Racetrack Pioneer Joseph A. DeFrank Dies, 87 Joseph A. DeFrank Jr. (DeFrancesco) of Lake Pleasant, NY — who helped pioneer North Jersey's famed Meadowlands Racetrack — passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 12. He was 87 years old. Born in Holley, NY on Aug. 27, 1933 to Joseph Sr. and Florence DeFrank, he was a proud member of the U.S. Army and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 529 Holley. 
Beyond the racing world, Joe’s main priority was his family, who he loved wholeheartedly.  Joe and his wife Beryl loved gardening and cooking together. They spent their retirement years enjoying the beauty of the Adirondacks from t…

Four Route 3 Lanes Shut Down After Passing Crane Hits Overhead Signs A crane clipped the bottom of a group of signs that hang over Route 3 in East Rutherford on Monday, scattering debris and closing lanes. The bucket-type truck hit the signs for Route 120 East Rutherford/American Dream and the Meadowlands racetrack and football training facility around 3 p.m. Police immediately closed the exit and two eastbound lanes.
