"Growing up I had a lot of stomach issues", said Cappel, according to the Madison NJ PBA. “When I was 21 years old, they found a massive tumor where the other kidney should have been. Luckily it wasn't cancerous, but I've been dealing with Chronic Kidney Disease since the…

You couldn't help but love him. “Firefighting royalty” one colleague said Monday after learning that retired veteran fire chief and academy instructor Larry Rauch had died a week and a half shy of his 79th birthday. Rauch, the Bergen County Fire Academy’s head instructor for several decades, fought fires for nearly 50 years in Upper Saddle River. He lived there most of his life before moving to Manchester in 2019 with his beloved wife of 58 years, Sherry, who died…

The "A+" refers to her blood type, and "your spare" refers to the fact that a healthy person can survive with just one of her two kidneys.  Abrantes, 40, of Newark, has been on New Jersey’s waiting list for a new kidney for four years. So when Salameh's kidney began failing last spring, it only seemed natural to Clark to try to donate one of his own. Late last week, Salameh and Clark went in for their procedures, giving the longtime friends one more "up" to celebrate. "Chris donating his kidney means me having a life agai…
