Township Waiting On Weather To Reopen Skating Rink At Morris County Park
A Morris County park is getting its own winter wonderland. Washington Township Mayor Matt Murrello announced on Facebook last week that the town will be offering ice skating on the infield of Palmer Park baseball field. Murello tells Daily Voice: "We can open it once Mother Nature freezes the ice and all our parks are open sunrise to sunset" The township asks residents only skate and not play hockey, and to stay off the surface until it is ready to use. Two Kids, Adults Fall Through Ice At Skating Pond In Allendale
Two child skaters who fell through the ice and two adults who went in to rescue them at the Celery Farm in Allendale checked out OK afterward, authorities said. Fortunately, the skating pond isn't too deep in that area, Allendale Police Chief Michael Dillon said. The 9-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy fell through the ice at the Franklin Turnpike farm shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, the chief said. $8 Million Check Will Bring North Jersey State-Of-The-Art Ice Skating Rink To Life
Union County officials are expected to be presented with a check made out for $8 million in state funding that will go toward renovations to an indoor ice skating rink at the Warinanco Sports Center in Roselle. Kateri Sullivan had been looking forward to the ice skating trip with her Midland Park Girl Scout troop. The 13-year-old has cerebral palsy but had an adaptive walker for snow and ice made four years ago that she planned on using.
