An 18-year-old high school soccer player was among five people hurt in a weekend crash between two SUVs on Route 24 in Florham Park on Sunday, Oct. 27, Daily Voice has learned. At 12:23 p.m., a Suzuki SUV with one occupant collided with an Infiniti SUV containing five occupants while traveling eastbound on Route 24, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. High School Swimmer ID'd As 16-Year-Old Killed In South Jersey Crash
The 16-year-old girl killed in a weekend South Jersey crash has been identified as a high school athlete. Sophia Bennett was killed in the two-car crash on Friday, March 22, at the intersection of Hurffville Road and Deptford Center Road just after 8 p.m., according to police and school officials. The vehicle that Sophia was riding in was being driven by a 17-year-old Gibbstown boy, who was seriously injured, police said at the time of the crash. The Rahway High School football team is mourning the loss of one of its own. Ali Muhammad, 17, a senior, died this week, his dad, Percy Lamont Brown announced on Facebook. A North Jersey high school athlete was airlifted to a nearby hospital after having a medical episode and collapsing during practice earlier this week, NJ.com reports. A referee who suffered a heart attack during an Emerson junior varsity football game on Monday was doing well after being resuscitated, officials said.
