A man who mowed down a pedestrian, assaulted others then barricaded himself in a Hudson County home was in custody after a seven-hour standoff Sunday, July 2, authorities said. The strange scene began shortly before 9 a.m., when 45-year-old Malik Moore, of Orange, struck a pedestrian near the intersection of 70th Street and Bergenline Avenue, police in Guttenberg said. Moree tried to walk away from the scene, and during that stroll, assaulted another person, police said. Then, he went rogue. Hudson County Officer Forfeits Position On Theft Accusation
A 32-year-old police officer in Hudson County has give up his position in law enforcement on accusations he spent a $500 business investment payment on something unrelated, authorities said. Anthony Cosma, of the Guttenberg Police Department, is facing one count of theft by deception, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Cosma was charged on Tuesday, Feb. 28 and waived his right to an indictment on Thursday, March 9. A North Jersey man accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a 33-year-old woman surrendered to authorities in Hudson County on Wednesday, authorities said. Michael Vivar, 23, of North Bergen, was arrested on charges of aggravated sexual assault, robbery, and witness tampering, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
