Services Set For North Jersey Athletic Director Jim Grasso Who Changed Lives Through Sports Beloved North Jersey athletic coach and director James "Jim" Grasso died on Aug. 10 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery.  Affectionately known as "Topper," James was born in Suffern and was a longtime resident of Ridgewood. Tribute: John Brennan Of Edgewater, 23, Was 'Genuine, Talented Pianist, Friend To All' John Patrick Brennan of Edgewater died on Saturday, July 28. He was 23 years old. Born to Joseph and Mayda Brennan, John attended the Eleanor Van Gelder Elementary School and Leonia Middle School. He graduated from Leonia High School and attended classes at Bergen Community College. The Fairview resident was remembered as kind and caring with a kindred sprit and a passion for cars. He loved snowboarding, wakeboarding, skateboarding -- almost anything using a board. He also enjoyed playing piano. He was a good friend to many and deeply loved by his family. Condolences poured in.
