UPDATE: A man who was shot and killed in Jersey City by members of a specialized law enforcement team that hunts fugitives was wanted for shooting and killing his 67-year-old next-door neighbor and wounding her husband a day earlier in Florida, authorities said. A man who’s spent nearly two decades as a fugitive at large following the alleged sex assault of a juvenile was found hiding out in Mexico, authorities said. Juan Francisco Aguillon, 43, went on the run after a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office for the sexual assault of a juvenile in Alexandria Township in 2003, state police said. Members of the US Marshals Service arrested a Maryland man wanted in a Baltimore shooting in New Jersey, authorities said. Luel F. Mekonnen, 22, of Silver Spring, was located on Friday, March 18 at the Red Roof Inn in Westampton, NJ, a spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said. Officers responded to a local hospital for reports that someone was brought there after being shot in the 1300 block of Colbury Road around 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, police said. Hawthorne Police Nab NYC Fugitive, Grab Two Others In Stolen Car
Hawthorne police recovered a stolen car while capturing a fugitive wanted out of New York City. An officer initially pulled over the 2017 Audi A4 on Lafayette Avenue near Wagaraw Road on Thursday.
