An 81-year-old driver from Cresskill was pronounced dead at the scene after her car struck a utility pole Monday morning in Tenafly, said police who are seeking witnesses. East Clinton Avenue was closed for more than an hour and a half after the victim's Ford Focus, which was headed toward Route 9W, crashed near Buckingham Road around 8 a.m. Nov. 27, Tenafly Police Lt. Teaneck Bicyclist Struck, Seriously Injured By Tenafly Driver, 83
A bicyclist from Teaneck suffered a fractured pelvis, elbow and wrist when she was struck at a busy Tenafly intersection by a sedan driven by an 83-year-old borough man, authorities said. The 51-year-old victim was alert and conscious but in pain after she was struck by a 2017 Toyota Camry at the intersection of East Clinton Avenue and Engle Street around 9:45 a.m. June 7, Police Chief Robert Chamberlain said. Sedan Slams Into Pole, Tenafly Driver, 58, Seriously Injured
A 58-year-old Tenafly driver was hospitalized in serious but stable condition after her sedan slammed into a utility pole Tuesday morning, authorities said. The vicitm was headed east on East Clinton Avenue when the Mitsubishi struck the pole between Farview and Old Smith roads at 8:16 a.m., police Capt. Michael deMoncada said. The driver may have suffered a medical episode, although there also was "significant sun glare" on the road at the time, deMoncada said. Responders said she was unconscious when taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. Police were investigating.

Bergen Youth Hoops Program Continues During NJ Indoor Sports Ban
The director of a Bergen County-based organization said he's found a way to keep from shutting down a youth basketball program amid a COVID-related statewide suspension of all indoor sports that began Saturday. An indoor kids basketball program operated by Englewood-based CMEK will continue uninterrupted "through the month of December and beyond," Director Chad Mekles wrote this past week to parents. Gov. Tenafly Police: Officers Break Window To Remove Resisting DWI Driver From Car
Tenafly officers had to break a window to get an argumentative – and suspended -- drunk driver out of his car after it swerved toward oncoming traffic, authorities said Wednesday. Officer Maxwell Werner was following the Toyota sedan when it swerved into the opposite lane on East Clinton Avenue near Buckingham Road just after 1 a.m. Saturday, Capt. Michael deMoncada said.
