Paterson police seized 563 heroin folds and more than four pounds of pot while arresting seven men during a series of quick strikes in the city.
"Operation Clean Sweep" targeted drug dealers and buyers alike, "one bag, jar and block at a time," Police Director Jerry Speziale said.
It began with the arrests of three men carrying a combined 380 heroin folds at the corner of Broadway and Summer Street around 10:30 a.m. Monday, he said.

Paterson police crashed an open-air drug market outside the public library, seizing 651 heroin folds, nearly a dozen bags of crack and $2,185 in drug proceeds while arresting dealers and buyers, authorities said.

Paterson detectives smashed an Eastside drug operation, arresting several people and seizing 5,182 heroin folds, a handgun and hollow-point ammunition, authorities said.
Investigators watched Monday as two men – one from Paterson, the other from Rockland – separately bought a combined 182 heroin folds at a house on East 27th Street, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.

PATERSON, N.J. – Passaic County sheriff’s detectives found 1½ pounds of raw cocaine, a quarter-pound of pot and a customer ledger at the apartment of an accused dealer, authorities said.
Maximo Tavaras, 56, gave them permission to search his Mills Street apartment and an adjacent storage room, Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said Wednesday.
