Firefighters Douse Blaze At Hackensack Real Estate Office UPDATE: Hackensack firefighters doused a blaze at a real estate office Monday afternoon. The fire broke out on the first floor at Beyer Realty on Clinton Place off Pangborn Place around 1:30 p.m. and quickly went to two alarms, responders said. Flames spread upstairs in the 2½-story wood-frame building, they said. Firefighters had the bulk of the blaze knocked down within 20 minutes. Hackensack Firefighters Free Driver In Crash Hackensack firefighters extricated an SUV driver in a two-vehicle crash Monday that sent a sedan into a fire hydrant. The freed driver was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that responders said didn't appear life-threatening in the crash at Prospect Avenue and Clinton Place around 1 p.m. The vehicles had to be towed. The hydrant also required repair. City police were investigating.

Photos: Hackensack Crash Temporarily Halts Train Service Commuter train service was briefly suspended after two vehicles collided Tuesday evening at a Hackensack railroad crossing. No injuries were reported after the Jeep and wagon collided at Clinton and Terrace places, sending the Jeep onto the railroad right-of-way next to the tracks, shortly before 7 p.m. Both vehicles had to be towed. NJ Transit's Pascack Valley Line was held up until the wreckage was cleared. No injuries were reported when the Toyota Tacoma and Suzuki four-by-four drove into each other at the intersection of Clinton and Terrace places. A tow truck came for the Toyota while the driver of the Suzuki drove home.

Hackensack Saddened By Death Of Friendly Crossing Guard Ulysses Kearny, 91 If you've crossed Hackensack's Linden Street at Clinton Place in the past 22 years, you've met Ulysses Kearny. At 91 years old, Kearny died last Sunday. "He loved his job with the City of Hackensack," Deputy Mayor David Sims said in a social media post.
