ME!’ Clifton PD Rescues Couple Kidnapped By Violent Sex Offender Posing As Police Officer
“HELP ME!” a Morris County woman mouthed to a stranger in the parking lot of a Clifton bank after she and a companion were kidnapped by a violent registered sex offender. That brought Clifton police, who captured both the abductor and an accomplice, authorities said. The 28-year-old woman and her companion, a 32-year-old West Milford man, told police that they were parked near the corner of Main and Vreeland avenues around 10:45 p.m. Friday when there was a tap on the driver’s side window. NJ Dominos Pizza Delivery Driver Carjacked At Gunpoint
A pizza delivery driver was carjacked at gunpoint in Essex County, authorities said. The Dominos driver was approached from behind by an unknown individual, who placed a hard object believed to be a handgun to his back and demanded the vehicle on Ella Street in Bloomfield on Sept. 25, Public Safety Director Samuel DeMaio said. The suspect fled on Ella Street and went east on Bloomfield Avenue. The car was recovered the following day around 1:20 a.m., in Newark. The incident remains under investigation.

More than 300 “violent opportunists” nationwide are being prosecuted federally for crimes committed “under the guise of peaceful demonstrations” against racial injustice, the U.S. Justice Department announced Thursday. Newark Ex-Con Must Serve 20 Years In Fed Pen For Union County Carjacking
A Newark ex-con was sentenced to a plea-bargained 20 years in federal prison for a Union County carjacking that turned into a police chase. Hasson Thomas, 30, will have to serve the entire term because there’s no parole in the federal prison system. Thomas previously admitted taking a vehicle at gunpoint from two people on Chestnut Street in Roselle Park on Aug. 18, 2018 and then leading borough police on a chase that ended in a crash. Five Injured In Newark Police Pursuit Crash
A Newark police pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash that injured a carjacker, two police officers and two civilian before dawn Monday, responders said. All five were taken to University Medical Center after the chase ended in a chain-reaction collision at Hawthorne and Chadwick avenues shortly after 2:30 a.m., they said. An Ohio man who once took part in a violent criminal spree in Essex County in the early 1990s was sentenced to 300 months in prison for robbing a mobile phone store in Orange, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Craig Carpenito said. Frederick White, 47, had earlier pleaded guilty to robbery under the federal Hobbs Act as well as brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. A man who set off an intense search for a carjacker in Berkeley Heights Tuesday faces charges of lying to police, the department said in a statement. Couple Carjacked At Knifepoint In Palisades Park
Authorities were searching for a carjacker who took a BMW at knifepoint in Palisades Park late Wednesday. A couple in their 20s were accosted on Glen Avenue near Route 46 shortly before midnight, responders said.
