Car Crashes Into Toll Booth On Garden State Parkway In Ocean County
A car crashed into a toll booth on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, causing an afternoon traffic slowdown. The New Jersey Department of Transportation said a vehicle overturned at the southbound toll plaza in Barnegat. The crash happened just after noon on Friday, Feb. 9. Traffic cameras showed a car on its roof up against a booth in the far left lane of the plaza. The crash closed down at least one lane.

NJ Parents Tried To Get Son Psychiatric Help Right Before He Killed Them, Police Say
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, Cheryl Mulgrew called police seeking a psychiatric evaluation for her 34-year-old son, Michael Mulgrew, who had been experiencing a mental health problem, police documents say. But Michael Mulgrew came home later that night seeming calm, and so Cheryl, 69, told police not to bother, and she'd take him to the doctors in the morning, the affidavit says. Dylan DeStefano died in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday, Oct. 12 of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident, his obituary says. He was 19 years old. The Barnegat/Manahawkin resident's greatest passions were his Honda Street Bike and his Nissan 350 Z, next to physical fitness, his obit says. Dylan was a valued employee of Mud City, where he was considered family. Hundreds of people who knew and loved Dylan turned out for a memorial in his honor last week. US Coast Guard Rescues Fisherman Off Jersey Shore
A 46-year-old fisherman suffering a medical emergency was rescued off the Jersey Shore by members of the US Coast Guard from Barnegat and Atlantic City, authorities said. The rescue involved the fishing vessel "Captain John" about 45 miles east of Point Pleasant. A 64-year-old Ocean County resident was among two killed in a head-on snowmobile crash in Upstate NY, authorities said. Nicholas J. Klym, 64, of Barnegat, was operating the snowmobile and failed to keep right at the crest of a hill while heading west on Rector Road in Montague around 12:45 a.m. Friday, March 4, New York State Police said. A 25-year-old Barnegat man will spend seven years behind bars for a crash that killed his 24-year-old passenger in March 2020, in which speed and alcohol were both factors, authorities said Thursday. Jeydon Lowe pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and DWI on Jan. 17, and was sentenced before Superior Court Judge Linda G. Baxter, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. A woman from Caldwell is among a group of people indicted in a crackdown on fraud and abuse of the elderly and disabled living in care facilities, the state Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor announced Monday.
