'Our Pesticides Kill COVID:' NJ Biotech Founder, Philly Firm Hit With Federal Charges
A New Jersey man and the Philadelphia-based biotech company he founded are accused of selling pesticides with false claims that they could kill the virus that causes COVID-19, federal prosecutors said.
James Young, 46, of Cherry Hill — founder of ViaClean Technologies, LLC — was charged by indictment with conspiring to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, mail fraud, and violations of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), according to U.S. Attorney David Metcalf.
Sean Storrie, 59, of Philadelphia, was also charged with FIFRA violations, prosecutors said.

32,000 Pounds Of Meat Products Pulled By NJ Company Over Fake Inspection Labels
A company is recalling tens of thousands of pounds of meat after federal investigators discovered that products were sold with counterfeit inspection labels.
Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC, based in Edison, New Jersey, is pulling back approximately 32,000 pounds of chorizo, pork chops, and ribs.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the items were produced without required federal inspection but carried a false USDA mark, making them unsafe to eat.

‘Disregard For Rules’ Closes Hawthorne Pool After Bacteria Spike, Officials Say
Hawthorne’s public pool has been shut down after high levels of bacteria were found in both pools, borough officials said.
The closure was announced Wednesday, June 25, and is expected to last through Thursday, June 26, officials said in a notice posted by the Hawthorne Municipal Pool.
“Due to required bacteriological testing requirements and positive test results for high levels of bacteria, the pool will be closed today, Wednesday, June 25 and most likely tomorrow, Thursday, June 26,” the notice says.
Officials blame the spike in bacteria on a pattern of rule-breaking by pool-goers.
