Crime Spree: Burglars Steal ATMs After Smashing Into Bergen Check-Cashing Businesses Burglars have been stealing ATM machines by smashing their way into check-cashing businesses in Bergen County, authorities said Monday. The bandits, who've been spotted in a dark-colored pickup truck, apparently used a sledgehammer to smash their way in through front glass doors, Hackensack Police Detective Lt. Ryan Weber said. Two  burglaries occurred within minutes of one another in Hackensack between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Weber said. Authorities: Suspects Nabbed In Cliffside Park Among Dozens Charged In Statewide ATM Thefts Eleven suspects seized in Cliffside Park following a brief pursuit were among dozens arrested statewide Tuesday for exploiting a glitch that allowed them to steal tens of thousands of dollars from ATM machines at banks throughout New Jersey and in New York City. Borough police arrested two suspects at the Santander Bank on Anderson Avenue before chasing down the rest on foot, Deputy Police Chief Vincent Capano said.
