According to a statement from the school, Professor Steven Fischer, Professor Sydney Birnback and Professor Fred Golub utilized the culinary talents of the college's hotel/restaurant/hospitality students for the fundraiser, collecting $4,300 for the food pantry.

In addition to preparing the food, the hospitality students also served the 67 people who attended the event at the main campus' "Bergen Room."

Other students also worked their way into the charitable effort.

Members of the school's horticultural program decorated the dining area with centerpieces and floral displays that were later raffled off to dinner guests, according to the college's statement.

The food pantry, which is located on the college campus, opened in June 2014 to help feed the estimated one in five community college students who have struggled with hunger, according to the school.

The event was sponsored by a number of organizations, including the Bergen Community College Foundation, the Paramus Golf Course, Sparks Electric Company and a number of supermarkets and diners.
