River Edge Councilman Quits In Wake Of Book Controversy

RIVER EDGE, N.J. -- Anthony Cappola has quit his post on the River Edge Borough Council after reports he wrote a book containing racials slurs and other offensive material, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.

Cappola also stepped down as a Republican candidate for state Assembly, forcing GOP officials to seek a replacement candidate in the 38th District, NorthJersey.com reported. 

The book contains negative depictions of African-Americans, gays and lesbians, Asians and other people, according to NorthJersey.com.
