The council's key accomplishments included the hiring of three new police officers and the promotion of William Wicker to police captain, Councilman Michael Staff said.
Other highlights for the council included redesigning the borough's website, refurbishing Hoffman Field, repaving Beechwood Road, Summit Avenue, Oakley Place, Lower East Drive, and Amaryllis Avenue, and doing it all within budget.
"2015 started off with several important issues that needed immediate attention," Staff told Daily Voice. "We managed to come forward 12 months later making it one of the most productive years in memory."
Among the list of other accomplishments were several public safety advances, including the implementation of random drug testing and e-ticketing, headway on a new PBA contract, and the promotion of two Sergeants and a detective, Staff said.
The Oradell Fire Department also obtained a Scott Air Pack replacement grant that the council said will save the borough in excess of $100K in obsolete unit replacement costs.
The council also noted the adoption of a new DPW labor contract. This year the DPW completed phase 3 of the sewer refurbishment program and installed an emergency generator in borough hall.
In addition, the recreation department refurbished Muehleck Field, relocated and fixed the DEPAC scoreboard, and began site plans for cost shared bleachers with the Junior Football program and the LAX program.
The council also purchased a new camera kit for Oradell Public Access Television, and implemented a shared courts service with Paramus to eliminate structural noncompliance costs. Oradell is also working with Paramus to seek long term solutions for fueling to curb infrastructure expenses for both boroughs.
The council also noted six new businesses that opened in Oradell in 2015: Columbia Bank, Sussex Bank, Calabria Pizza, Mo's Chili, Showtime Barber Shop, and Schulhof Cosmetic Dentistry."
Staff said he is looking forward to facing new challenges in 2016.
"Each year has its unique challenges, and we expect 2016 to be no different."
