Mayor John Labrosse swore in Sgts. Sean Briggs, Matthew Swetits, Luis Dominguez, John Knapp, Mark DelCarpio, John Dalton and Franklin Bay as families, loved ones and fellow officers looked on.

"These new Sergeants are a huge asset to the department,” Capt. Peter Busciglio said. “They will be steering the department in the right direction moving forward.

“I want to congratulate them for their previous hard work that qualified them to receive this promotion,” said Busciglio, one of the key members of the revamped department.

The captain also thanked Labrosse, the city council and City Manager Ted Ehrenberg – a former police chief -- for “their continued support and making these necessary promotions possible.”

Briggs and Bay are the sons of Hackensack firemen.

Dalton’s brother, James, is a retired Hackensack police captain.
