Pushing 70, he gets 6½ years in fed pen for child porn

CLIFFVIEW PILOT HAS IT FIRST: Don’t think downloading child porn has serious consequences? Ask 67-year-old Peter Dafferner, who today was sentenced to 6½ years in federal prison, nearly all of which he will be required to serve — if he lives that long.

Dafferner, of Randolph Township, had more than 600 kiddie porn images on a home computer when FBI agents busted him in September 2009.

Pleading guilty in March, Dafferner acknowledged that the images included minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct with other minors and adults, as well as in sadistic and masochistic acts.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton fined Dafferner $1,250 and sentenced him to five years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Paul S. Fishman credited special agents of the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Task Force with the
investigation leading to today’s sentence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David L. Foster of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark.
