The officer said he told 33-year-old Pablo Sanchez of Hempstead that he was “free to relocate to an open area of the bus terminal” after he found him loitering on the first floor around 1:30 this morning, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said this afternoon.

Sanchez then “became combative and struggled with the officer,” he said.

He was taken into custody and turned over to other officers to face charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

The injured cop was brought to St. Luke’s Hospital and was released after being treated, Pentangelo said.
