The crash occurred last Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock behind the K-Mart Shopping Plaza on Route 17.

“After striking the juvenile, the operator exited his vehicle and attempted to help him,” Lt. John Scully said. “The operator was unable to assist the juvenile due to the extent of the victim’s injuries.

“He then pushed the right front fog light back into place, returned to his vehicle and fled the scene via Linwood Avenue,” Scully said.

The 15-year-old boy was treated at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for a leg injury, the lieutenant said.

Scully described the driver as:

dark skinned;
mid 20’s;
dark curly hair;
wearing glasses and a zippered sweatshirt

Anyone with information that could help police with this case is asked to call: (201) 262-3400.

Be sure to get someone on the line.
