The card-issuing bank notified Paramus police when 40-year-old Clarence Smith and Miasia Jones, 24, bought the tickets at the AMC Theater just after 6 o’clock Friday night for the 11:10 p.m. show, Detective Guidetti Robert Guidetti said.

Paramus Detective Tom Schroeder, assisted by Detective Carmen Cutro from the Bayonne Police Department, “advised AMC Theater staff of the purchase,” Guidetti said. The card had been stolen out of a Bayonne residence, he said.

A short time after midnight, Smith and Jones turned up, asking theater staff for a refund, the lieutenant said.

Schroeder and a uniformed officer arrested the pair, then found that Jones was wearing jewelry bought with the card. They also used it for a $200 Ruby Tuesday gift card, Guidetti said.

Both were carrying a small amount of marijuana, he said.

They are being held in the Bergen County Jail, Smith on $15,000 bail and Jones on $10,000, on various charges.
