Paramus man charged with selling more potent Oxycontin

ANOTHER CVP SCOOP: A series of undercover buys led to the arrest of a Paramus man on charges of distributing a high-potency brand of Oxycontin, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.

Brian A. Owens, 50, made three separate sales — one in November and two a month later — of three Roxicodone pills each, Molinelli said.

He charged $20 a pill, the prosecutor said.

“Roxi” and Oxycodone are essentially the same — only that Roxicodone is a brand name with more potency than the generic 30mg oxycodone pill.

Last week, members of the Bergen County Narcotic Task Force and Paramus Police arrested Owens at his home, Molinelli said.

There they found “additional Roxicodone pills, numerous prescription pills and heroin,” he said.

Owens was being held on $35,000 in the Bergen County Jail on drug possession and distribution charges.
