Video taken at the scene and provided to CLIFFVIEW PILOT shows a yellow tarp covering the driver of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 on the highway barely 50 feet from the overturned pickup (CVP doesn’t publish such images).
Debris stretched from Century Road all the way to Route 4 following the 9:50 p.m. crash next to the Century Road overpass, just north of the Route 4 interchange.
Police were contacted by the driver of the 18-wheeler, sources told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The Dodge sideswiped his tractor-trailer, as well as two other cars before smashing against the divider, a law enforcement source said.
“All other drivers have minor injuries,” he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Route 17 eventually was reopened in both directions just before 5 o’clock this morning.
