The NJ Transit train brushed the bus as it pulled form the yard just before 10 p.m., causing extensive damage to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.

The train did not derail, contrary to published reports.

Kinderkamack Road was closed at New Milford Avenue.

Police, fire and emergency crews from New Milford, Oradell and Dumont converged on the scene, along with Bergen County Police  (click here for a GALLERY OF PHOTOS from the scene).

An NJ Transit track safety crew was on its way in a truck that rides the rails.

The driver of the NJ Transit 7690 bus was taken to Holy Name Hospital as a precaution with potential back injuries.

He and both the conductor and engineer of the 1632 commuter train will submit to drug testing, as per NJ Transit policy.

While one EMS crew took the bus driver to the hospital, another evaluated the conductor and engineer, who apparently were unharmed.
