Man, 20, charged in sexual relationship with Garfield girl, 13

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 20-year-old Westchester man had intercourse “multiple times” with a 13-year-old Garfield girl, authorities said today in announcing his arrest.

Wilmer Lara of White Plains was being held on $112,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with sexual assault and child endangerment.

Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said members of his Special Victims Unit and Garfield police arrested Lara on Wednesday after the girl’s parents contacted authorities and they interviewed her at his office in Paramus.

There she “provided specific details regarding her sexual relationship” with Lara, the prosecutor said.
