Just Pups on Route 17 will remain closed until a borough Board of Health hearing that was moved to May 2, Mayor Rich LaBarbiera said. Borough inspectors issued 400 violations to store owner Vincent LoSacco.
LaBarbiera also said that donated supplies were being accepted at Tyco Animal Control Services in Midland Park, which was caring for the puppies until an investigation of LoSacco by the Bergen County SPCA is completed.
The mayor suggested bringing the items to the health department at Borough Hall between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday:
• Paper towels
• Bleach
• Bleach wipes• Laundry detergent
• Lysol spray
Daily Voice broke the news Monday of the harrowing discovery.
The puppies were taken to Oradell Animal Hospital -- where it was determined that four needed further medical treatment, authorities said.
LoSacco told Daily Voice that that there was nothing "illegal, inhumane or uncommon" about the setup.
