Connecticut State Police said they took Mogg into custody with assistance from local police after receiving a fugitive warrant from Bergen County. Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said that his detectives went to Hartford Wednesday night. She is being charged with two counts of murder, he said.

“It is anticipated that, upon Mogg’s extradition to New Jersey, additional charges will be lodged against her,” Molinelli said shortly before 8 p.m. “No bail has been set at this time.”

Mogg shot and stabbed the victims — a 52-year-old man and a woman, 42 — at a single-family Millbrook Avenue home behind Veterans Park and then headed north, the prosecutor said.

River Edge police discovered the bodies at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, the prosecutor said. The victims had been dead less than 24 hours, he said.

No weapons were found.

Authorities had been unable to locate next-of-kin, so Molinelli said he would have to withhold the victims’ identities until they could.

Mogg, 49, who used to live in the Bronx and Westchester, recently lived in the Orange County town Newburg, near her ex-boyfriend’s former town of Washingtonville, a little over 10 miles north of Woodbury Commons.

“Reports that this homicide was a random act, brought about by the darkness caused by Hurricane Sandy, are unfounded,” he added. “River Edge residents need not fear that this was a random act.”

CLIFFVIEW PILOT broke the news that the man’s ex-girlfriend was believed responsible and that investigators had gone to Connecticut to charge her.
