DWI for driver of dump truck that rear-ended car near BCC in Paramus

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A dump truck driver was charged with DWI after the vehicle rear-ended a car on Paramus Road just south of Bergen Community College, Paramus police said.

Nicholas Pietropaolo of Toms River had an alcohol concentration below the .08 legal limit but failed a series of field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated and operate a commercial motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .08% or more on Monday.

He was later released to the custody of a sober adult, Lt. John Scully said.

Police also impounded the dump truck, registered to D&L paving out of Nutley, the lieutenant said.

The driver of the 2001 Audi that was struck, a 52-year-old Saddle Brook woman, weren’t injured, Scully said.
