NEW MILFORD, N.J. -- Authorities were seeking the public's help finding whoever badly beat a pitbull mix who they said was found scarred, overbred and "in overall bad condition" at the border of New Milford and River Edge.

A good Samaritan brought the severely injured dog to the Bergen County Animal Shelter after finding her near Boulevard.

If you recognize her, or have information that could help authorities, please contact the Bergen County SPCA Law Enforcement Division at (201) 573-8900.

"Please help us find those responsible for this abuse," the division said in a statement.
