Marie Briamonte posted $150,000 bail and was released pending a court appearance.
Maninder Singh, 48, of North Plainfield, was struck by Briamonte’s 2003 Toyota Camry around 10:50 p.m. on the highway’s westbound side, Molinelli said.
Law enforcement sources told CLIFFVIEW PILOT that Singh was trying to summon a police officer conducting a radar detail near Bank Street after he’d gotten into a dispute with a Lukoil customer.
Although killed almost instantly, Singh was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center a short time later.
Briamonte, who the prosecutor said is married and unemployed, officially was charged with DWI death by auto within 1,000 feet of a school (on Gantner Avenue). She also received DWI and reckless driving summonses.
A court appearance is set for ths coming Tuesday.
An investigaton was continuing, Molinelli said.
