Cops: $9G mugging reported

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An employee of Raymour and Flanagan in Paramus told police two men in ski masks jumped him outside the Route 17 store and made off with $9,000 worth of the day’s receipts after putting a knife to his throat.

The 19-year-old employee told police he was headed to his car with the night deposit just after 9:30 Saturday night when someone whacked him the back of the head, knocking him to the ground,
Paramus Police Chief Richard Cary said. Two assailants then kicked and punched him, he said.

While one held a knife to his throat, another rifled through his pockets, Cary said the employee told police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Paramus Detective Frank Scott at 201.262.3400.
