Unique Randolph, 24, and another man entered the T-Mobile store in at Park Place in Paramus around 2 o’clock Jan. 16, federal authorities said this morning.
They brought three employees and a customer to the back of the store, where they forced three of them to lie on the floor, tying them up, an FBI complaint on file in U.S. District Court in Newark says.
Randolph, who was carrying a gun, “forced [a] third employee to fill two laundry bags with (74) cell phones, including Samsung Galaxy cell phones,” the complaint says. “Once the employee had finished putting the cell phones into the laundry bags, the men tied her up and forced her to lie on the floor.”
“At some point during the robbery, a UPS employee walked into the store, at which point one of the men pointed his firearm at the UPS employee,” it says. The second robber “then brought the UPS employee to the back room, tied him up, and forced him onto the floor.”
Shortly after the robbery began, another co-conspirator waiting in a car outside the store texted Randolph: “Youll aint get the safe” and “[o]r some of the registers”?
The FBI said Randolph responded: “i wasnt thinking bout [sic] no damn registers bro real talk.”
“But it got to be like 50 galaxy 3s we got or evenmore [sic],” he added, according to the complaint.
Moments later, the robbers fled north on Route 17 in a gray, four-door Mercedes with New York license plates, witnesses told police.
The second Brooklyn man, Sulayman Graham, 30, is charged with being the getaway driver in a similar robbery of a T-Mobile store in Woodbridge.
Both he and Randolph have appearances scheduled in federal court in Newark this afternoon.
They join four other Brooklyn-area men — Terrell McQueen, Leonard Arrington, Carl Williams and Eric Williams — arrested in connection with the Woodbridge holdup and another in Linden.
The FBI has been investigating a series of armed robberies they believe the crew is responsible for in Bergen, Middlesex and Union Counties, as well as other locations, between May 2012 and January 2013, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said this morning.
