Phyllis Marie, 80, Of Oradell

ORADELL, N.J. -- Phyllis Marie, a resident of Oradell, died Saturday, Jan. 23.She was 80.

Marie was a graduate of Good Council Elementary and High School of Newark and Saint Michael’s Hospital School of Nursing, which ultimately led to 25 years at Englewood Hospital as an endoscopy nurse. She served as president of New Jersey Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Eugene Westlake, and their eight children, Eugene and Tammi Westlake, Mark and Liz Westlake, Gary and Maria Westlake, Cynthia and Brian Sherlock, Elisa and Dean Karch, Suzanne Westlake, Marilyn and Brian Nichols and Matthew and Heather Westlake. In addition, she is survived by her extended family, which includes 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. She also is survived by her sister Marilyn Sharkey and her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Elizabeth Heary and her brother Phillip Jr.

The Westlake Family will receive friends on from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at St. Peter’s Apostle Church, 445 Fifth Ave, River Edge.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in her name to St. Peter’s Apostle Church in River Edge, NJ 07661.
