Nestor R. Bautista, 88, Longtime Paramus Resident

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Longtime Paramus resident Dr. Nestor R. Bautista died on Saturday, Feb. 20. He was 88.

Born and raised the Philippines, Bautista was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Visitation Church, in Paramus. He was a member of the Philippine American Community of Bergen County, Philippine Resident East Coast Association, Knights of Columbus, Philippine Medical Association, American Medical Association and the Hudson County Medical Association.

Prior to retiring, Bautista was a surgeon. He enjoyed gardening and dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Esmeralda (Calulo) Bautista; children Naomi Furrey and her husband Michael and Neil Bautista and wife Edylin; grandchildren Ryan, Leah, Tyler, Courtney, Nyle and Nia; and sisters Celina Bautista and Claudia Manalad.

Visiting hours will be from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Rd., in Fair Lawn. A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, at Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 234 North Farview Ave., in Paramus. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, in Washington Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of the Visitation Church.
