ORADELL, N.J. -- Mathilda M. McKinley, of Oradell, died on Friday, Dec. 16. She was 76.
She was born and raised in Brooklyn, and later moved to Granite Springs. She graduated with a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She was proud of the German heritage she received from her parents, Mathilda and Henry Schreiner. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She had a love of animals, and took wonderful care of her “Rosie.” She especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Holidays, especially Christmas, was very important to her.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. McKinley; children, John and his wife Norma, Elizabeth McKinley, Mike and his wife Mary; grandchildren, Samantha, Laura, Ryan, Colin and Kacey; and sister, Theresa Albert and her late husband Ambrose.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Finley and her husband Howard.
Visitation is Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell. A funeral service from the funeral home is on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and then to St. Peter the Apostle RCC in River Edge for a 9:30 a.m. mass. Private cremation.
