Madelynne Canger, 75, Of Paramus

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Madelynne Canger, of Paramus, died Wednesday, Aug. 10. She was 75. 

Born in Paterson and raised in Fair Lawn, she resided in Paramus since 1978. 

She taught history at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School and Fair Lawn High School for more than 30 years, where she influenced and inspired countless students who remember her for her gift for making history come alive and be understood, sometimes with little songs which she created and students still fondly remember. 

A proud member of AA of Paramus for more than 30 years, she served as a motivational speaker.

She was the mother of Buddy Cardillo and the late Chiara Camille Cardillo; grandmother of Shannon and Calvin Cardillo; and sister of Felicia Perini and husband Flory, Michael Canger and wife Suzanne DeLuca and Chiara Marcino and husband Michael. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday with a service following at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. Cremation will be private.
