Emanuel 'Willie' Speranza, 90, Of Paramus

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Emanuel “Willie” Speranza, 90, of Paramus, died Tuesday, Sept. 20.

He was born and raised in New York City and resided in the Bronx, N.Y. for many years. He proudly served with the U.S. Army during World War II. 

Prior to retiring, he was a theatrical teamster with Local 817 and previously was a foreman with the New York City Department of Sanitation for 20 years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle; and his brother, Frank Speranza. 

He is survived by his sons, William Speranza and wife Karen and Gary Speranza and wife Rosemary; and his grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Allison, John and Emily Speranza. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Annunciation, West 50 Midland Ave., Paramus. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories in Washington Township.
