Donald T. Casey, 89, Longtime Oradell Resident

ORADELL, N.J. -- Donald T. Casey, a longtime resident of Oradell and formerly of Bogota, died Friday, Jan. 15. He was 89.

Casey graduated from Bogota High School, where he is enshrined in its Basketball Hall of Fame. He attended the University of Pennsylvania on a four-year scholarship, where he starred on the basketball court. He earned his MBA from Columbia University and completed an executive business degree at Harvard University. Casey also served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was a business executive in the textile industry for his entire career. Burlington Industries transferred him to Zurich, Switzerland, where he lived with his family for five years.

Casey served on the Hackensack Golf Club's board of trustees, as well as St. Clare’s Hospital and Cabrini Hospital, both in New York City. He also was a founding trustee of the Oradell Swim Club. He also is a former trustee of Bergen Catholic High School. Casey was a dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church in Haworth.

He is survived by his children Maureen Tighe and her husband Chris, Willy Casey, Michael Casey and his wife Katie, Gina Casey and her husband Mark Chiaviello, Paul Casey and his wife Kirsten, Pat Murphy and her husband Garrie, and Mark Casey and his wife Renata; grandchildren Kerry, Ryan, Lauren, Andrew, Casey, Carleigh, Dillon, Maggie, Ryan, Liam, Conor, Molly, Patrick, Isabella, Sofia and Victoria; and great-grandchildren Kevin and Lindsey.

Casey was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Markey) Casey.
