Maron grew up in Union City, and he served in the Army. He then studied civil engineering at New York University. He had a long career with Lummus/Combustion Engineering, living and working in the U.S, Canada and Europe.
He retired in 1986 and lived in both Sparta and Oradell. He had been ordained a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church in 1975, and he was active at both the St. Joseph, Oradell and Our Lady of the Lake, Sparta parishes.
Maron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Maron; children Edward Maron and his wife Mary, Michael Maron and his wife Diane, Gerard Maron and his wife Christine, Mary Ann Maron Ross and her husband Kenneth, and Theresa Maron Lindsay; sister Hilda Dievler; and 20 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Judene Maron Baglieri.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., in Oradell. The funeral will be from the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Friday, then to St. Joseph Parish, in Oradell, for a 10 a.m. mass. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, in Mahwah.
