The work will include constructing a more modern and efficient interior space, while the exterior will remain the same, according to NorthJersey.com. The library will have to close during the construction, the renovations are expected to take three to four months with completion set for June, according to NorthJersey.com. When the main library does close, the borough’s smaller, Charles E. Reid Branch Library will extend its hours to match those of the main library so that residents have a library to visit during the construction, said NorthJersey.com.
Library officials also said they plan to move certain events to other libraries in the area, including the monthly book discussion which will move to the library in River Edge, according to NorthJersey.com. The renovation will make the library more accessible and books much easier to find, have new furniture, including lounge chairs, and different shelves for the children's section, added NorthJersey.com.
