Paramus Suspends Puppy Adoption Applications

PARAMUS, N.J. — Adoption applications for the 67 puppies found crated in a van behind a Route 17 pet store last month are no longer being accepted, Paramus officials announced Thursday.

"Due to an overwhelming response we are the no longer taking applications for puppy adoption," municipal officials posted on the website just one day after announcing the pups were in need of homes.

Just Pups owner Vincent LoSacco and his brother, Leonard LoSacco, were charged with 134 counts of animal cruelty by the Bergen County SCPA following the overnight April 4 discovery.

Paramus officials shut closed the Route 17 store and filed complaints against the brothers, which will be consolidated with the SPCA's cruelty charges next month in court.
