Paramus High Graduate Battling Rare Sun Allergy Needs New Wheels

PARAMUS, N.J. — More than $10,000 had been raised as of Wednesday evening on a GoFundMe page for a Paramus High graduate battling an extremely rare sun allergy.

Raphi Strauss battles a rare skin disorder called Xeroderma Pigmentosum, which in simple terms means that he is allergic to the sun.

Raphael Strauss of Teaneck was born with Xeroderma Pigmentossa. He has no immune system to repair the damage from UV rays coming from any source. Strauss underwent more than 300 surgical procedures to remove almost every type of skin cancer.

Money raised on the GoFundMe will go toward purchasing a reliable vehicle that will safely transport Strauss to his medical appointments.
